Can't Stop the Feeling

Justin Timberlake came to town pretty close to Lydia's birthday so that was a done deal.

There was some intro DJ stuff for a while as we waited for the show to begin. I think watching a sign language interpreter do "Baby Got Back" was worth the price of admission alone.

This show went pretty hard. There was a lot of giant JT heads in different stages of... maybe like authoritarianism? Like if Big Brother from 1984 could sing and dance.

This giant video cube thing was a costar of the show.

There was nothing it couldn't do.

At one point it tried to drown JT.

We were on the far end of Climate Pledge BUT this multitalented phenom had a little secondary stage that was right up in our face.

Then the video cube decided that Justin was an angry god emperor. I don't know what we did to anger him but he brought sexy back very aggressively at this point.

Lastly the video cube transformed into a flying carpet and whisked JT back to Olympus.

Normally this would be the end of my expert coverage of this event. But there's a bit of a prologue on this one. About a month and a half later JT got pulled over for alleged drunk driving. Some reporting on the incident:

"We're also told that the cop who pulled Timberlake over "was so young that he didn't even know" who the 10-time Grammy winner was.

"He didn't recognize him or his name," our insider says.
A second source adds, "Justin said under his breath, 'This is going to ruin the tour.' The cop replied, 'What tour?' Justin said, 'The world tour.''"

So of course anytime anything bad happened to either of us the next couple of weeks we would exclaim "this is going to ruin the tour".

Chandrila to Kirkland

I got my hands on one of the tie-in books that relate to the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience we did at Disney World.

They did a really good job of capturing some of the magic of the real hotel. The elevator/shuttle ride from the ground to the ship was very well done in the real life version.

This I thought was cool because they tied in several adventures that Star Wars characters had on the ship. This in particular was especially cool. There's a lightsaber battle and they scratch the wall while they're fighting. At the real hotel, then, there was a big scratch on the wall from the fight. Disney did a really good job placing the location within the Star Wars universe and gave some extra depth and lore to hardcore people in the know.

I may have already mentioned but I was similarly excited by the book The Princess and the Scoundrel because there they mention Han scratching his and Leia's initials on a pipe in the engineering room and you could see that on the real ship as well. There were fun easter eggs waiting for the nerds which I appreciated.

Totem Lake

Zoe has been awesomely making us a new sticker of Ernie once a year. I've been sticking them on my laptop.

We hit Totem Lake today after his first day at his new school. A new thing about this school is that it has multiple cameras in each room. It's tempting to just sit and watch him play all day.

Lydia's jaw was hurting so... they're doing some sort of Dupo holistic medicine here I think. Rubbing some Mountain Dew on it probably.

School's Out

Today was Ernie's last day at his daycare. I think we liked it fine but the new place we found provides meals and is closer so that made it an easy decision.

His teachers were really nice and we will definitely miss them. One we liked so much that we asked her to babysit. I think that will give Ernie a little bit of continuity in his life and it's someone that we already trust to look after him so again another pretty easy choice.

The school laminated some pictures of us to put on the wall at school and today he took that home with him. He really enjoys looking at photos of his family members.

He likes to play with my dad's old bike which gives me the feels.

I've been playing a bit of Fallout 76. It's an online multiplayer addition to the Fallout series which is why I've avoided playing it for several years but my Fallout thirst got too dire and I finally relented. They recently began releasing episodes of a Fallout tv show which has really triggered me into wanting to play something. The game is fine but I think I'll be done once I've completed the story content.

Cool Pool

Today we visited the North Shore Lagoon Swimming Pool at the McMenamins Anderson School in Bothell, WA.

The McMenamins passport has stamps for visiting places but it also has stamps you can get for performing various actions or buying specific products. Once you done a few you get a gift card prize and if you play your cards right you can come out ahead.

I like the pool here a lot. A little bit of theming goes a long way in transforming a pretty standard indoor pool into a fun and unique place to hang out. I especially like the several waterfall elements that they have going.

Ernie is actually a pretty good tooth brusher.
